Weird is right!!

Check out this news article. This picture is a Fried Coke with Whip Cream. Here is a list of the new fried foods that the Texas State Fair will add to the fried festivities. I am not sure if Mark Sisson would approve? I also wonder if this is the reason that Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex has the best and most Heart Hospitals in the United States? Any way's being a Canadian and a athlete that doesn't eat fried or processed foods i had a hard time keeping my breakfast down after my run and swim workout this am. Hopefully i will get my appetite back soon. Training has been going very well and i will be off to Austin after tomorrows training in the morning.

State Fair of Texas announces 2008 list of weird fried foods

The State Fair of Texas, which runs September 26 through October 19, released the list of "food items" in the running for the 2008 annual Big Tex Choice Awards, coming up on Monday September 1:
Fernie’s All-American Fried Grilled Cheese Sandwich
. White bread sandwich with American and cheddar cheeses dipped in egg-and-milk batter, coated with bread crumbs, and fried.
Chicken Fried Bacon. Bacon with seasoning, battered, breaded, deep-fried, served with ranch or honey mustard sauce.
Fried Banana Split. Banana and honey peanut butter rolled in balls, battered, and deep-fried, topped with powdered sugar, caramel and chocolate syrups, peanuts, whipped cream, banana split-flavored ice cream bites, and cherry.
Texas Fried Jelly Bellys. Jelly Bellys rolled in funnel cake batter and fried.
Deep Fried S’mores. Marshmallow and chocolate chips sandwiched between two graham crackers, dipped in batter, fried, and dusted in powdered sugar.

This week

Congrats to Carley for finishing her Masters!!! She is now officially smarter than i am. Just joking she always has been. But if she was really that smart would she be dating me?
I had a great week of training logged, and i am a bit tired. There where many adventures along the way, some can be told and others can't be due to police investigations and pending evidence.
Monday- Threshold Swim
Tuesday- Threshold run w 45mins f'n H#ard Pace
Aerobic Recovery Swim; Then a 2hour big gear strength ride in pm
Wednesday- 1hour base run; Pulls/strength swim session, followed by threshold intervals on the bike for a couple of hours with David. * we found something in the ditch but i would rather not speak about it. I felt like i was on CSI
Thursday- 2xswim 1st one was a speed/threshold session with 20x50 fast!!, then easy run,
Second Swim- recovery and drill and a 90minute easy spin with David. 4 workouts meant early to bed.
Friday- am swim Aerobic Power 3x800m main set short rest
pm- 2hour ride with 20min intervals at high cadence
Saturday- Run workout am, followed by a recovery swim and a movie marathon on t.v
Sunday- 3.5hour brick session, that went sweet followed by a aerobic swim session in the afternoon.
Sunday night had a beer with my buddy David, a long story short but that beer i am holding is 6L and weighs more than i do. Half a beer and i was ready for bed. It was a great week with 22+ hours, i know this week is looking like a bigger training load and some good hard intensity. On Friday i will be heading to Austin for work, but i will be putting in some great training on the weekend up there. I am looking forward to digging my self out of this hole, and resting in a few weeks time. Congratulations to Richard Hyre and Rhodsey at Ironman Canada.

Focus

Good Recovery week but timed to get focused. With 4 weeks till Muskoka70.3, i feel the strongest and fastest i have ever been. I have time to get in a few more weeks with a some rest leading into Muskoka. Alister has done a great job over the last few months making sure i will be able to swim fast, and hang with the lead pack on the bike, i have done allot of work but its not over. All and athlete can do is step up to the plate and do there best and have a lot of fun along the way. Last week i received my pro invite for the US OPEN Triathlon. Last year i raced in the US OPEN and it wasn't bad but wasn't good. The funny part of it all was Simon didn't go and by accident they gave me his cap and i didnt realize it till about to start. After a quick change of a cap, they introduced the athletes and by accident they introduced me first in front of Greg Bennett, Hunter Kemper, Craig Walton, Matt Reid, just to name a few. So after the stresses of the beginning of the race and loosing my goggles, and a very fast race it was done. I remember seeing Emma on the run, thinking man she is running way faster than i am right now. Yesterday she won the Race in Beijing, with a amazing run split. I will have to see how my training goes after Muskoka because Austin 70.3 is the same weekend as the US OPEN. Either race will be amazing, but will have to see what Alister thinks. Either way hi heard Hugh Dawgg was coming Texas for either race, which will be beauty. Want to wish the boys good luck, i will be dialing into some Beijing Action this evening. I may have to tape the race because it is time to get focused and between Phelps and gymnastics action i have had too many late nights.

recovery week

Things have been going well in the dirty south. I feel a little like Carley has invaded my blogging but that is good, because i have been to tired. She is more like the graphic designer so i have a feeling my pictures are slowly being removed. The last two weeks were great but it is time to let myself recover before i tackle another two weeks. The past two weeks i had 12days of training with 2 travel days. I swam 10x, Biked 11x, and ran 10x for 52 hours of work. I was really happy with my 1,010kms logged in the 12days of cycling. I am feeling more than ready to step up at Muskoka 70.3. Florida i semi steeped up coming 7th, i swam well and biked well, but faded on the run. Buffalo springs i had an injured foot, but since then things have gone really well, and my form is starting to show. This week i am taking things really easy and chilling like this panda in the photo however i will have ice in my bath water.
Not much has gone on for training a few workouts so far, but nothing to write home about other than a threshold swim with some 100's and a pretty good fartlek run. I also had some massage work done on Monday from the Tarpmaster so my body is starting to come around. I wish i was going to Nationals in Kelowna, but i had to pick and choose my battles and doing well in Muskoka and some other races later on in the year were my goal. Kelowna was always a fun race but with the Olympics going on it would have been a good Nationals to race at.
