Cousin Ben/ Chlorella/ training update


Back at the training and building it up. Yesterdays long progression run and a hard swim with 1 of the mainsets being 24x50m on 20sec rest, fast, well a step up from fast pace, more like angry pace. This morning was a great brick workout with some hard intervals, and then a run off the bike. Luckily i called upon the Hemp magic for recovery. Last night i blended up some recovery pudding, with blueberries, bananas, hemp protein, carob powder and some other goodies like almonds and flax seed. Later on i will swim, then head to Chances to Grill out and watch the tour. I have been really getting sick of all of the rice and quinoa i have been eating lately, so it may be a mushroom burger depending on how the swim goes. Tomorrow will be some solid training, and a bike fit after dinner which may take most of the evening up but at least i will be able to get some things figured out. I will post more about that and the pictures from that come Friday.

Since cutting caffeine and other horrible foods out of my diet i have felt great. I am trying to become more aware with my bodies signals and trying to limit the stress that i put on my body.

Since adding a few nutritional super foods into my diet i have felt great, and i no longer crave sugars in the afternoon. Chlorella is a solid addition to my diet.

hello,
my trip to laos has been a very crazy and long journey. what started off as an already 20 hour bus ride turned into something else. we left hanoi at 5:45pm in a mini bus with 10 seats and packed in 10 people plus all of the luggage in with us. there were bags on top of people and surrounding the door, it was a mess. people here like to pack the bus as full as possible, they will sell tickets after tickets and never think about bags and such. so this mini bus takes us to the hanoi bus station and we get dropped off. the guy handling all the bags was very rough with them and it resulted in my hip strap being broken on my backpack, but not quite as bad as the British girls who had china in their bag! we were under the impression that we would have a sleeper bus until a city 6 hours south of hanoi then switch buses for the border, but no. we get to our bus and it is a regular bus that is packed full of stuff in the cargo holds and the roof has tons of boxes on it. what are we transporting here? we finally pull out of the station around 7pm and after 5 minutes the A/C is off and all of the windows are open! like i have said before it is very hot in Vietnam. so we start our trip and everyone is sweating and not enjoying the ride. after a couple of hours we start picking up people along the way..... families..... making people move seats and accommodate for more people. at one point we stop and look out the window and they are tightening the lug nuts on the bus! wow this is only 3 hours into the trip. we come to stopping point at about 2:30am and take a break. once again they are tightening the wheels on the bus..... and adding more boxes of who knows what. we also pick up another 4 passengers! so there was no bus switching we took the same broke down bus across the border. we arrive at the border at 5:30am and leave at 8:30am.... we had to go through Vietnam exit immigration and then go and get a laos visa. the visa you could get on arrival and was fairly simple. the border crossing was in a very beautiful place up in the mountains and the temperature was much better, almost chilly. so we get going and finally we see some rain which is nice for a change and we believe that we have a long bus trip to the capital vientiane. well then there is a traffic back up and there has been a mud slide. so the driver makes everyone get off the bus and attempts to go through it and makes it. well back on the bus, but then not even half a mile up the road are more buses, trucks and cars stopped. no one on the bus speaks english except for the other westerners on the bus with us, so some of them go and check it out. there are 4 huge mudslides blocking the road! so some backpackers get there stuff and decide to walk through it and see what is on the other side. i decided to wait a bit and see if they would return or not. it was still continuing to rain a lot and people where getting stir crazy. finally there were 6 of us who decided to get on and go find out. we figured there would be a bus on the other side. we stopped at about 11:30am for the mud slide and now it was almost 2pm. we began our walk and i could not imagine my eyes, these mud slides where huge. there was no way that our bus was going anywhere for a long long time. there were 4 huge mud slides that we had to walk through, needless to say we were all covered in mud and rain and soaked to the bone. we see some more people from our bus and they are in the back of this converted truck that has a roof over the bed of it. we pack it full and take off towards town which was about a 10 minute ride. it finally stopped raining but everything was soaked. paying for this ride was hard because they use kip over here and all we have in Thailand baht or dollars, so it wasn't easy. then we see a bus and find out it is going to vientiane!!!! lucky, because this bus was about to be leaving. we see other passengers from our bus in there and they told us we barely made it. so all of the seats are full but they have little plastic stools that we can sit on in the aisle of the bus!!! we got on the bus around 3:45 and arrived in vientiane just after 7pm. my back was killing me. anyways I'm here in Laos now and it was a crazy ride getting here, but i made it. hopefully my next overland trip will be different.
